Two ways to submit

Both tracks share one deadline and one review form. Select your track on the submission form.

Archival

Full paper

8 pages

Complete research contributions, excluding references. Accepted full papers are published in the WACV 2027 proceedings and appear in IEEE Xplore.

Non-archival

Short paper

4 pages

Late-breaking attacks, datasets, benchmark re-evaluations, and position pieces. Presented at the workshop but not published in the proceedings.

Archival status, stated plainly

Full papers are archival and will appear in the WACV 2027 proceedings and in IEEE Xplore. Short papers are non-archival: they are presented at the workshop and posted on this site, but are not published in the proceedings. Non-archival submissions do not preclude later publication elsewhere.

What we are looking for

Visual

Image and video watermarking. In-generation marking for diffusion models. Robustness to compression, cropping, regeneration, and screenshot re-capture.

Audio and speech

Watermarking for TTS and voice cloning. Survival under codecs, re-recording, and time-stretching.

Model and weights

Watermarking and fingerprinting neural networks. IP attribution. Generator attribution from intrinsic artifacts where no mark was embedded. Robustness to fine-tuning, distillation, and quantization.

Biological substrates

Marking DNA sequences and engineered organisms. Encoding under mutation, recombination, and sequencing noise.

Adversarial

Watermark removal, forgery, and spoofing. The arms race as a first-class research object.

Cross-substrate theory

Unified capacity, robustness, and imperceptibility formulations. Whether a threat model or evaluation protocol transfers across carriers.

Systems and standards

C2PA and Content Credentials. Interoperability. Deployment at platform scale.

Benchmarks

Shared test suites, attack batteries, and reporting standards for robustness claims.

Where

All submissions are handled through OpenReview. The submission portal opens August 28, 2026.

Format

Use the WACV 2027 author kit and follow the main conference rules in the author guidelines. Full papers run 8 pages including figures and tables; additional pages of cited references are allowed. Short papers run 4 pages on the same terms.

Papers that are not properly anonymized, or that do not use the template, or that exceed the page limit excluding references, are rejected without review. Supplementary material is optional, must be self-contained, and is capped at 200MB.

Review process

Review is double-blind. Remove author names and affiliations, and avoid self-identifying references in the first person. Each submission receives at least two independent reviews.

OpenReview profiles

Every author must have an active OpenReview profile at submission time. Profiles registered with a public email domain can take up to two weeks to approve; institutional addresses are usually immediate. See the WACV 2027 profile guidance and create yours well before the deadline.

Dual submission

Full papers must be original work not published or under review elsewhere. Short papers are non-archival, so that work may be submitted elsewhere before, during, or after the workshop.

Presentation

The workshop is in person in Orlando. At least one author of each accepted paper must attend on site to present. WACV does not accommodate fully remote presentations.

Camera-ready papers that arrive after November 20 may not appear in the conference proceedings or in IEEE Xplore. This deadline is set by WACV and cannot be extended by the workshop organizers.

Awards

A $5,000 research support pool

Paid as AI credit on a research compute platform. Credit returns the award to the work itself, and it lets groups without compute of their own run the next experiment.

  1. First place ×1 $3,000

    Carries a second certificate for the Best Paper Award.

  2. Second place ×1 $1,000

    Awarded on the reviewers' scores.

  3. Third place ×2 $500

    Awarded to each of the two papers.

Every award carries an official certificate signed by the organizing committee and issued under the WACV 2027 workshop. Awards are supported by Phi Lab Foundation and paid as credit on its research platform.

How papers are selected

Both tracks compete on equal terms, and a short paper can win outright. Reviewers score each accepted paper on the clarity of its threat model, the honesty of its evaluation, and the reproducibility of its released code.

What we reward

Not the size of a claimed gain, and never at the expense of a negative result. A careful paper showing that a well-known method breaks scores above a shallow one showing that it holds. Winners are announced at the workshop and listed on this site.
